My husband Russ and I got away for a little kid-free trip to Chicago this month, which was so needed after the move and back-to-school craziness.

Truth be told, I didn’t want to go on this trip because I felt that this was the WORST time to get away for those exact reasons – we JUST moved and the kids JUST started school, things are too crazy!!! But I’m so glad we did and it gave us a little bit of a re-charge as a couple to jump back into all our roles back home 100%.

We arrived to GORGEOUS weather. See ya, 107 degree Phoenix.

We stayed at the Park Hyatt which overlooked the Water Tower with views of Lake Michigan. It was a quiet haven in the middle of the city. Great location.

As always, my agenda was food. Chicago is well-known for their restaurants and we had some great and memorable meals. Top of the list? Next, where we had a 17 course menu based on the “World’s Top 50 Restaurants” list. If you love Netflix’s Chef’s Table like me, this was like going to heaven and having all the top chefs’ greatest hits all in one sitting.

The best part? Dessert, where Grant Aschatz himself created the dish directly on our table. I MEAN…

(That’s my amazing sister-in-law, Grace. And Grant’s hands lol. #fangirlmoment)

Other spots we hit were The Purple Pig (one of my Chicago favorites) Blackbird, Avec, The Publican, Glazed and Infused, Spiaggia, Nico Osteria, and Beatrix. It was one incredible meal after another (I’m glad I fit into this two-piece for our dinner at Next!)

We also did some some shopping and went to the Museum of Modern Art which had a Takashi Murakami exhibit that was amazing. I’m not the museum type but I am glad I went!

Early birthday present from Russ snuck its way in there at Celine…

Nordstrom Rack was across the street, where I picked up this sweatshirt dress (the COZIEST DRESS IN THE WORLD, similar one linked below) and paired with my mother’s vintage YSL clutch. I wore the look to lunch.

And the real reason we went was that Russ wanted to go see Green Day at Wrigley Field. I was instantly transported to circa 1996 (omg that was more than 20 years ago…???) and was surprised I remembered so many of the lyrics!

To combat the caloric overload of Chi-town, I went to Soul Cycle Old Town for one of the best classes with Aya. For me, spin is all about the music and she brought it, big time.

This post is dedicated to all my followers who reached out with their recommendations for restaurants and workouts. THANK YOU SO MUCH! You literally created my Chicago itinerary. And it was perfection.
