Coordinating outfits for a trip is one of my favorite things. It’s like creating a mini capsule wardrobe. Picking it, packing it, and putting it all together at my destination – I just love it. Granted, it can be a little stressful (Hi, I’m a mom who dreams of the day she can shop solo for hours again amiright?) but once I find a few new and inspirational pieces to start, then I go with my strategy of classics, color, and comfort. Somehow it always all comes together as outfits I love and feel good about wherever I go.
I recently was invited to speak at the Wake Up Warrior WarriorCon in Dana Point, CA – and here’s what I wore!
Speaking Engagement ::
Romper | Tobi @shoptobi
Shoes | Steve Madden
Clutch | Express
This romper from Tobi was the starting piece for this trip’s outfits. The ruffles, the light and solid color, and draped and breezy fabric became the theme for the rest of my looks. As soon as I put this on I was like YES. Rompers are hard sometimes and this one fit like a DREAM. I wore it to a speaking engagement for Wake Up Warrior, where the audience was all MALE and everyone was in black. I felt feminine in pink, comfortable in linen, and confident to get up on stage.
Dinner Out ::
Top | J.O.A.
Jeans | J Brand (on sale!)
Shoes | Christian Louboutin
The first night there was a hosted dinner with the wives and husbands. I actually tried this top and jeans together at the same time in the dressing room and was like “okay this works! Done.” Like the pink romper, it was ruffly and in a pretty color and the fit was just spot on.
Around Town ::
Sweater | H&M
Leggings | Lululemon
During the day I went to nearby Laguna Beach and went shopping and lunching (oysters at my fave, Driftwood Kitchen.) Not only was I super excited for sweater weather in June, I got a few compliments on this cream sweater (it’s currently on sale at H&M but I can’t find it online – head to the store asap. I may go get another!) The extra long sleeves felt cozy. I wore zero makeup and felt so relaxed. Top knot, leggings, and a soft clutch completed the look.
Top | Lululemon
Shorts | Lululemon
Shoes | Nike
I worked out every day on this trip, you guys. I think that is a record! The Miraval Spa at the Monarch Beach Resort was awesome and they had a great gym. My recent favorite for summer workouts have been these shorts. I know these speed shorts by Lulu are a perrenial fave for many but I’ve never been into shorts until now (read :: it’s been freaking hot.) I grabbed a bunch recently in white, aqua, black, olive, bright blue, and pink. They go with everything.
Top | Express
Jeans | J Brand (my favorite white jean, currently on sale!)
Bag | Prada
Shoes | Target
Sunglasses | Rayban
I get excited about putting together my airport outfits. I never like to look like I just rolled out of bed traveling; flying is stressful enough so if I feel like I am at least put together, it puts me at ease. Call me crazy, but that’s just how I feel! White jeans are a staple for me and chambray is always a classic. I took a cycle class that morning and was running late, so I left my hair straight which is rare but it worked.
Special thanks to this giant mirror at the Monarch Beach Resort for being my photog on the trip 😉
Next week I will be heading to NYC – more looks to come!
See you then,
